Who loves Mickey Mouse?

I love Mickey Mouse and almost anything Disney related. But my favorite will always be Mickey.

The other weekend I was out shopping and very good luck finding some vintage and non vintage Disney bedding. It's impossible to look at Mickey Mouse and not have a smile, so I thought I would share some of my finds with you.

New Direction!

After much thinking over the last new months, I have decided to take Rerun Design in a new direction. My original direction with Rerun Design was to provide products made from upcycled fabrics. Even though this has been successful, I find that many customers would like a place to purchase vintage fabrics. They would like the vintage fabrics to make into their ownitems and decorate with. So in response to this request and the success I have had selling vintage fabrics and textiles on Etsy, you will see a new focus in providing these materials. I will still be sewing items, I can't give that up. However, I will also be selling vintage fabrics and textiles.

You will be able to find these materials listed in the vintage section of my Etsyshop. In that section you will find everything from vintage floral sheets to vintage Walt Disney patterns and everything in between. You will notice that I do like characters for the 1980's and that might because that reminds me of my own childhood. Please take some time to look at my offerings in my vintage shop if you are looking for fun fabrics to create or decorate with.

From Sheet to Clothespin Holder

As mentioned in my previous post, I am on the searchfor new upcyled items to sew. One item I would love to make is clothespin holder. However, because my yard is covered by oak trees over 75 years old that provide great shade, I am afraid my clothes would never dry. As much as I would like to limit my dryer use and use mother nature, I am afraid it would not work at my house. Just because I not able to use mother natures clothes dryer, I would still like to share my favorite clothespin bag patterns with those who can.

Clothespin bags are an easy project for new sewer. They are a great starter project because many don't have snaps, zipper or button holes. They are also a great way to reuse any fabrics you might have around the house. You can upcycle an old dress shirt, pillowcase or bed sheet. Plus, everyone has a clothes hanger laying around the house that can be put to good use.

What a great earth friendly project. Use mother nature in place of electricity or gas, plus upcycle some fabric around the house.

To Do Spring and Summer Crafts Shows or Not

It is the time of year that has me thinking if I should do spring and summer crafts shows or not. Last year I was vendor at fivefrom May thru August. If you are planning to be a vendor at any spring our summer shows this is the time to get your applications in.

In trying to make my decision, I reflect upon several things. One, were the shows worth the time and effort for me? Two, do I really have the time and energy for them? In answering question number one, I reflect upon my experiences from last year. I find that my products seem sell much better the fall and holidayshows. It seems that more people are in the mood to by upcycled baby and kids items in the fall. It might have to do with the fact that I sell a lot of kids aprons. It seems that fall is when we start thinking about cookingchristmas goodies with our kids. To answer question number two, I need to very realistic with my answers. It is not fair to cheat my family and my full time job of my time. This spring has been supper busy with my familyand I have very busy spring coming up with my full timejob. After answering these two questions, I have my answer. Spring and summer shows are not as profitable for me and I really don't have the time this year.

It makes me sad that I will not be doing any shows, but at the same time I breath a sigh of relief. Now that I have made up my mind the pressure is off and I can focus on some things I need to get done around the house and new designs for the fall and holiday shows.

Please understand I am not giving up on selling anything. One item that made this decision easier is the fact that I have been selling very well on Etsy. Thank you to all of those who have been shopping my Etsy store.

I have decided that is time to reduce my existing fabric inventory and this resulted in a white sale on my Etsy site. This decision was base on two reasons; one their is no way I can use all the fabrics I have and because I would like to make room for some new items.
